Review the Week Together: Unit 2, Week 1
Display the read-aloud book Spicy Hot Colors by Sherry Shahan. Look at and praise children’s artwork, writing, and charts displayed around the room. Talk about the things children did and learned this week, including their work in the Learning Centers.
For example, say, This week we began learning about different colors and shades of a color. We also learned about the letter "Cc."
- Who can tell me something that is blue? Something that is a darker/lighter shade of that blue? (repeat with other colors)
- Who can tell me how you made the green water a darker shade of green? How did you make the dark green water a lighter shade of green?
- Can you tell me some things in nature that are brown? What other colors did you seen on our outdoor explorations?
- We also learned the letter “Cc.” We talked about words like color and cool.
- Can you tell me another word that begins with the letter “Cc.”
Review the charts made throughout the week. Point out how much longer the list is about colors because of all the ideas children added as they learned new things.
Congratulate the children on being observant scientists as they explored colors. Invite them to take turns naming their favorite color activity this week and sharing why it was a favorite.
Let children choose a favorite poem or song from the week to recite or sing together.
