Tell children you will teach them a counting rhyme about nails. Recite the chant and act out the movements. Invite children to join in.

Ten Little Nails
Ten little nails, standing straight and tall, (hold up all 10 fingers)
I’ll hammer them down, one and all!
Tap, tap, tap! One nail goes through. (use one fist to tap the pinky on the other hand)
Now I have just nine more to do! (lower pinky)

Additional Verses
Continue to count down until all fingers are lowered. Change last line to
“Now I have no more to do!”
