Educator Prep: Display pictures of instruments that begin with the letter "t." Direct children’s attention to the pictures as you ask them to recall instruments they know.
Tell children they are going to watch a video about instruments that begin with the letter "t."
Before You Watch
Ask children to share what they know about instruments. Ask questions such as:
- What insturments have you learned about already?
- What instruments have you played before?
As You Watch
Play the video through once without pausing. Have children listen for and repeat the names of instruments that begin with the letter “t.”
After You Watch
After viewing, explain any unknown words, such as the timpani, or the big kettle-shaped drum.
- Show the video again and have children repeat the words timpani, triangle, trombone, trumpet, and tuba.
- Invite children to pretend to play one of the instruments and have a "t" instrument parade around the room.
