Watch Together: “Words Beginning with ‘x’” (BTL clip)
ELA Focus Skills: Active Viewing, Active Listening, Phonological Awareness (Beginning, Ending Sounds)
Show the Between the Lions video clip “Words Beginning with ‘x’.” Say, We will watch a short video that has lots of words with the letter “Xx.”
- After watching the video, write the word box on chart paper. Say, In the word box, the letter “Xx” has the /ks/ sound. Say it with me: box. Emphasize the /ks/ sound as you point to the letter “x” in the word.
- Show this video again and have children read the words with you as they appear on the screen: sax, fox, six, Texas, tuxedo, box.
