ELA Focus Skills: Phonological Awareness (Ending Sounds)
Tell children that they are going to watch a short video. Say, Fred is going to say some words. Listen for the sounds Fred says. Show the Between the Lions video clip; then ask,
- What was Fred trying to do? (fix the six) Say, That’s right, he was trying to fix the six. What ending sound do you hear in the words fix and six? Emphasize the ending sound as you say the words with children.
- Show the video again. Ask children to blend the sounds and say the words with Fred.
