  • magnetic fishing pole (magnet tied on a string attached to a ruler)
  • several sets of magnetic letters “x,” “r,” “a,” and “y”

ELA Focus Skills: Fine Motor Skills, Letter Recognition, Word Recognition

Show children the x-ray word card. Have them repeat the word with you and identify the first letter, “x.” Invite children to fish for the letters in x-ray, then arrange the letters to match the word on the word card.
