Invite children to sing a song about what they learned about the three little pigs and their houses. After singing, ask, How would you feel if the big bad wolf came and blew your <house, bridge, etc.> down? Why?

  • Sing the first verse and the chorus to remind children of the lyrics.
  • Have children sing the song with you.
  • Encourage them to act out building and huffing and puffing as they sing.

I’ve Been Working on My Straw House
(sung to the tune of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”)
I’ve been working on my straw house                        (pantomime building)
All the live-long day.
I’ve been working on my straw house
Just to keep the wolf away.
Can’t you hear the bad wolf coming,
Huffing and puffing up the hill?
Can’t you hear the bad wolf coming? (cup ear as if listening)
Just wait . . . soon you will!

Chorus
Wolf is gonna huff. (huff like wolf)
Wolf is gonna huff.
Wolf is gonna huff and puff. (blow like wolf)
Wolf is gonna huff. (huff like wolf)
Wolf is gonna huff.
Wolf is gonna huff and puff. (blow like wolf)

Verse 2: I’ve been working on my stick house
Verse 3: I’ve been working on my brick house
