Educator Prep: Make word cards of various plants or seeds that begin with “Kk,” for example, kiwi, kale, kidney bean, kumquat, kelp. Include an illustration/picture of each plant. Place the cards around your setting before watching the video.
Tell children they are going to watch a short video about words that begin with the letter 'k'. Set a viewing focus for children by having them notice the letter “Kk” in each word as it appears on the screen.
Play the video Between the Lions “Words Beginning with ‘k’” through once without stopping.
Replay the video.
- Have children hold up their hand when they see the letter 'k' on the screen.
- Pause and have children repeat the words.
After viewing, encourage children to look around the room and find words that begin with the letter 'k'. Help children read the word/picture cards.
