Literacy Knowledge/Alphabet Knowledge: Recognizes that the letters of the alphabet are a special category of visual graphics that can be individually named.

PreK Learning Guidelines:

English Language Arts/Reading and Literature 7: Develop familiarity with the forms of alphabet letters, awareness of print, and letter forms.

ELA Focus Skills: Active Viewing, Active Listening, Vocabulary

Tell children they are going to watch a video about words that begin with the letter 'k'. 

Play the Between the Lions video clip “Word Morph: kiwi–kids–kitten–kite” through once without pausing.

Play it again and pause so the children can repeat the words after with the narrator.

  • You may need to explain unfamiliar words such as kiwi or kayak.
  • Ask children to name other words that begin with the letter 'k'.
