ELA Focus Skills: Letter Recognition, Phonological Awareness (Beginning Sounds)
Give each child an outline of the uppercase letter “K” to decorate. Children can draw their own designs or glue objects inside the outline. As they work, ask children to trace the outline of the letter with their fingers. Talk about the name and sound of the letter. Ask children to name any objects they chose to decorate the letter with. Repeat the words, emphasizing the beginning /k/ sound.
Adaptation: For those children who are ready, have paper and pencils handy. Invite children to write the uppercase and lowercase “Kk.”
