ELA Focus Skills: Listening and Speaking, Compare and Contrast Vocabulary

Choose a favorite book about plants or a book from the recommended list. You may want to choose a nonfiction book for this activity.

  • Do a picture walk and ask children to identify plants they know.
  • Point to parts of plants and ask them to name the parts.
  • Encourage them to use the terms roots, leaves, and stems in their responses.
