Look at and discuss children’s artwork, writing, and charts displayed around the room. Talk about what children did and learned this week, including their work in the Learning Centers. Display the read-aloud books from the week. Review with children some of the things they learned. Say,

  • We measured our plants this week. Tell me about some changes you observed in your plants this week.
  • We learned that some plants grow naturally in their environment and some plants are raised, or cultivated, by people. When people take care of them, plants may grow in places where they wouldn’t naturally grow. Give an example.
  • We replanted our plants this week. How will replanting our plants help them grow?
  • We talked about helping others. Share one way you helped a friend or family member this week.
  • We saw a show about a little red hen that planted wheat grains. What steps did the little red hen take to grow the wheat. What did she do first?
  • We compared our indoor plants to outdoor plants. What was the same about the grass plants we grew indoors and the ones we observed outdoors? What was different?
  • We learned that animals, including people, are the same and different just like the plants we have been exploring. What was the same and/or different about some of the animals we observed? What is something that is the same or different about all of you?
  • We also learned about the letter “Kk” and we talked about words like kitchen. Tell me another word that begins with the letter “Kk.” Now tell me another word that begins with the /k/ sound like in kitchen.

Let children choose a favorite rhyme or song from the week to recite or sing together.
