Tell children they are going to watch a short video with words that begin with letter sound /w/. Demonstrate how to wiggle and have children wiggle along with you.
Then play Between the Lions “Worm Watches.”
- Have children look for words that begin with the letter sound /w/.
- When they hear a /w/ word, have them wiggle away.
Replay the video and have children wiggle when they hear the word “worm.”
Educator Tip: Guided and independent letter, sound, and word practice continues to take place in center activities. If desired, you can set up the literacy center immediately after the direct instruction and repeat instruction before children work in the literacy center identifying letters.
