Letter Shaping (“Ww”)
Skill Focus: Fine Motor Skills, Letter Formation, Letter Recognition, Vocabulary
Educator Prep: Print out the Between the Lions alphabet chart or create an alphabet chart on chart paper.
Display the letter “Ww” card. Trace over both the lowercase “w” and the uppercase “W” to show children how to form the letters. Model how to use the materials to shape each letter. Have children compare the uppercase and lowercase “Ww” and say how they are the same and different. Ask, Does the letter “Ww” have straight lines or curvy lines?
