STEM Key Concepts: There are many different types of plants and seeds; Plants need water and light to grow
ELA Focus Skills: Active Viewing, Listening and Speaking, Story Comprehension, Vocabulary

Revisit the PEEP and the Big Wide World video “Peep Plants a Seed” from the beginning of the unit on plants.

Set a viewing focus for children by having them watch for the things that Peep and his friends do that are similar to what have done while exploring plants and seeds over the past several weeks.

Pause the video occasionally to allow children to share what they observe about what Peep and his friends do to help the seed grow, and what they have done to take care of their plants. When the video is over, revisit any plants and talk about how much the plants have grown over the past several weeks.

Educator Tip: Watching and discussing the selected PEEP stories and live-action video clips can spark and extend children’s interest and understanding of plants. We suggest that children watch the video clips after they have had an opportunity to do their own initial exploration of plants. That way your children can compare their experiences and discoveries with those shown on the video clip and think about what additional plant explorations they might like to try.
