Point to the letter “Vv” card and say, This card shows an uppercase “V” and a lowercase “v.” In this box, there are some uppercase letters. We’re going to find all the uppercase “V” letters and put them here on the sheet under the uppercase “V” on the left side of the cookie sheet. We’ll put all the other letters here on the right side of the cookie sheet. Have children sort the letters with you.

As you take the letters out, comment on their shapes. This letter has two slanted lines, just like the big “V” on the letter “Vv” card. It’s a “V!” Let’s put it here on the left side. This letter has curvy lines. It doesn’t look like a “V.” Where should we put it? When you’ve sorted the letters, encourage volunteers to identify them by name.

On another day, repeat the process as you search the lowercase letter box for the letter “v.”
