STEM Key Concepts: Water is a natural resource; Water is a basic need for all living things

ELA Focus Skills: Active Listening, Story Comprehension (Main Idea, Recall and Retell), Make Connections, Vocabulary

Choose a favorite book about water or a book from the recommended list. Ask children to identify how water moves in the book. Ask them to compare the way water moves and takes the shape of the container in the book to what they have been observing in their explorations. Encourage them to use the terms flow and water in their responses. If you choose A Cool Drink of Water, talk with children about all the different places people find water, and how they use water to meet their needs, such as washing, drinking, etc.
