Display the read-aloud books A Cool Drink of Water and I Get Wet. Look at and acknowledge children’s artwork, writing, and charts displayed around the room. Talk about the things children did and learned this week, including their work in the Learning Centers. Say, for example,

  • We learned that water does not have a shape of its own. What are some shapes you saw water take this week?
  • We explored how to make water flow. How did you make water flow out of a puddle in the mud?
  • Share some ways you made water change its direction.
  • We learned that some surfaces absorb water. What is one surface that absorbs water? What is one surface that does not absorb water?
  • Share something you learned about how rivers flow.
  • We also reviewed the letter “Ww” and talked about word water. Tell me another word that begins with the letter “Ww.”
  • Now tell me a word that begins with the /w/ sound like in water.

Let children choose a favorite rhyme or song from the week to recite or sing together.
