Gather children in a circle. Have them create a story together about a trip on the ocean in a boat. Have one child begin, then another child add to the story, and so on. Encourage children to describe the scene fully: what the weather is like, who they are with, how the water is moving beneath them and what it is doing to the boat, and how they are feeling. Record their story on chart paper as they talk. Help children respond in complete sentences.
