Educator Prep: Print out the Between the Lions Alphabet Chart or create an alphabet chart on chart paper.
Display the word card boat. Read the word together. Point to the letter “b” and ask, What’s the first letter in the word boat? Yes, boat begins with the letter “b.” Point to each of the remaining letters and have children name them. Then invite children to fish for the letters in the word boat and arrange them in the correct order to match the letters of boat on the word card.
