Greeting Song: “Good Morning” #10
ELA Focus Skills: Gross Motor Skills, Name Recognition, Phonological Awareness (Rhythm, Rhyme, and Repetition; Segmenting)
Have children sit in a circle. Say, Today as we sing “Good Morning,” I will hold up a name card. If I hold up your name card, stand up, say your name, and stomp the syllables in your name.
Have the whole group sing the song with you. Signal the group to stand, repeat the child’s name, and stomp the syllables for the cheer at the end. Then have everyone sit back down. Continue the process until each child has been acknowledged.
Good Morning
(sung to the tune of “Happy Birthday”)
Good morning to you,
Good morning dear <child’s name>
We’re glad you are here.
Together we’ll play,
Together we’ll learn,
And together we sing this
So your friends can all cheer!
(Cheer) Hooray <child’s name>! You’re here today!
