Greeting Song: “Here We Are Together” #5
ELA Focus Skills: Follow Directions, Name Recognition, Speaking and Listening
Give each child his or her name card. Show your matching name card at the same time.
Tell children that you will sing to four of them at a time. Explain that you will hold up a name card before you sing the name.
Say, If you see your name when I hold it up, then stand up! If you don't see your name, wait until we sing your name–then stand up. When you do stand up, hold your card up high!
- Sing “Here We Are Together” to four children at a time.
- Sing the first verse.
- As you sing the second verse, hold up a name card before singing a child's name. Pause to let children stand up if they recognize their name in print.
- Then sing the child's name as you continue to hold up a name card. This will allow children who are not recoginizing their name in print to stand after hearing their name.
- When you finish the song, have the four children come up and match their name card with your card and then sit down. Repeat with more cards until all children have had a turn. Invite children to sing along with you.
Here We Are Together

Here we are together,
together, together,
Here we are together,
together again.
Here’s and ,
and and .
Yes, here we are together,
together again.
Adaptation: With younger children, you may prefer to simply have them show their name cards and then you sing their names.
