ELA Focus Skills: Speaking and Listening, Vocabulary

Invite children to sing and act out the words to “Mice Mix Colors.”

For the first verse, give one child a red circle, another child a yellow circle, and another child an orange circle.

  • Instruct each child to hold up their circle as you sing about their color.
  • At the end of the verse, have children "mix" the color circles. Have one child put the red circle on the table, then another child put the yellow circle on top of it. Finally, have the third child put the new "mixed" color orange on top of the other two circles. 

Repeat with the other verses, choosing a different group of children.

Three little mice mix red and yellow,
Red and yellow,
Red and yellow.
Three little mice mixed red and yellow;
Red and yellow make orange.

Three little mice mix yellow and blue,
Yellow and blue,
Yellow and blue.
Three little mice mixed yellow and blue;
Yellow and blue make green.

Three little mice mix blue and red,

Blue and red.

Blue and red make purple.
