Display the read-aloud book Mouse Paint by Tana Hoban. Acknowledge children's artwork, writing, and charts displayed around the room. Talk about the things children did and learned this week, including their work in the Learning Centers.

For example, say, This week we began learning about mixing two colors to make a new color and learned about how objects change when you look at them through a colored transparent material. We also learned about the letter "Pp."

  • Who can tell me what two colors you mix to make orange? What other two colors can you mix to make a new color?
  • Who can tell me what happens when you mix more than two colors together?
  • Can you tell me how your hand changes when you look at it through the plastic transparent color paddles?
  • We also learned about the letter "Pp" and talked about the word paint.
  • Can you tell me another word that begins with the letter "Pp."

Review the charts made throughout the week. Point out how many new things children learned about colors this week.

Congratulate children on being observant scientists as they explored colors. Invite them to take turns naming their favorite color mixing activity this week and sharing why it was a favorite.

Let children choose a favorite song or poem from the week to sing or recite together.
