ELA Focus Skills: Name Recognition, Speaking and Listening 

Sing “Where Is?” to children. Guide them to respond with “Here I am, here I am!” after you sing their name.

  • Encourage children to sing along with you on the second verse. 
  • Continue until each child has been acknowledged. 

Where Is?
(sung to the tune of “Frère Jacques”)
Where is <child’s name>?
Where is <same child’s name>?

Here I am. (child sings)
Here I am. (same child sings)

We’re glad that you are with us,
So glad that you are with us,
Smile and wave.
And now sit down.
