Ask children to think of a family member or a caretaker who they like to spend time with. Tell them it can be an aunt, brother, cousin, father, mother, sister, or even a pet.

Then have children use the materials to make a picture for that person showing something they like about their preschool. Explain to children that they will be able to give their drawing to the family member. Ask, What do you want to tell your <brother> about preschool?

After children have completed their pictures, have them dictate or write a caption, such as,

I like to <read books> at school.

Ask children if they want to deliver the picture to the person they made it for. If the family member does not live at home with the child, connect with another member of the child’s family to strategize the best way to deliver the picture.
