Set up two rows of two chairs to serve as a pretend car. Encourage children to pretend that they are getting ready for a trip to the library.

  • Show the page in Lola at the Library where Lola and her mom are preparing for their trip. Review what they take with them: books to return, a backpack to carry the books, and a library card.
  • After children are packed and ready, encourage them to get in their cars (the four chairs) and drive to the library.
  • Sing “A Hunting We Will Go” (library version) on your drive!

A-Hunting We Will Go (library version)
A-hunting we will go,
A-hunting we will go,
We’ll find ourselves a favorite book (or a fairy tale, a lion book, etc.)
And then to home we’ll go.

English Language Learners: Say aloud these words: book, backpack, and library card. Ask children to repeat the terms after you. Then have children find these objects in the room. Ask them to point to the object and name it for you again.
