Talk Together: Review the Alphabet and the Library
Educator Prep: Print out the Between the Lions alphabet chart or create an alphabet chart on chart paper.
Review what children have learned about the alphabet and the library this week. Use the lists, charts, and artwork children made while exploring. Ask questions such as,
- What are the letters of the alphabet usually used for? (make words/to communicate information)
- Where did you see letters inside and outside the school? Have you seen letters anywhere else that we haven’t added to our list yet?
- Can you name some different types of books you can find at the library? What other things can you find at the library?
- Do you get to keep the books you borrow from the library? Why or why not?
- What would you do if you wondered about something and wanted to find more information about it? (ask questions, observe, look it up in a book, etc.)
Encourage children to dictate or write new ideas about the alphabet and the library on the charts that they created this week.
