Ask children to name some of the sounds they heard on their way home or at home yesterday.

After children share the sounds, say, It seems like we all hear different sounds on our way home. Ask,

  • Why do you think we hear different sounds on our way home? (live in different locations, go home in different ways, e.g., walking, riding in a car, taking a bus) Help children elicit why they all hear different sounds.
  • Have children dictate or draw to record a sound they heard on their way home on the “Sounds We Hear” chart.
