Educator Prep: Before viewing, be sure there are labels, charts, etc., with the letter “Ss” on them visible around the room.
Before You Watch
Tell children they will be watching Between the Lions “Words Beginning with ‘s’.” Explain that it is a short video about the letter “Ss.” Give children a viewing focus by having them look for the letter “Ss” whenever it appears on the screen.
As You Watch
Play the video once and have children raise their “Ss” card whenever they see the letter appear on the screen.
- Play the video a second time, and have children say the words along with the children in the video.
After You Watch
After viewing, have children go on a letter “Ss” hunt around the room and find words that have the letter “Ss.”
English Language Learners: You may want to review the names of the objects before the activity. Show the object and have children repeat the name of the object after you.
