Greeting Song: “Who Are You?” #4
ELA Focus Skills: Active Listening, Follow Directions, Phonological Awareness
Sing “Who Are You?” with children and have them clap out the syllables in their names.
Tell children you are going to hold up a name card of the child you will be singing to. If children are not recognizing their name in print, call out their name as you hold up the card.
Say, When you see (or hear) your name, stand up and when I ask you to say your name loud and clear, clap out the parts of your name as you call your name out loud.
Continue until all children have had a turn to clap and call out their names. If time allows, repeat the activity but have children whisper their name softly.
Who Are You?
(sung to the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”)
Who, who, who are you?
Say it loud and clear. (child says name)
Listen, listen, listen, listen,
Whose name do you hear? (children repeat name)
