ELA Focus Skills: Active Listening, Active Viewing, Letter Recognition

Now tell children that you are going to watch a short video clip about the letter “Ss.” Give children a listening focus. Say, Look for the letter "s" in the words as you watch the video.

  • Play the video clip Between the Lions “Word Morph: sun–salt–sock–soap” once without pausing.
  • Repay the video and pause after each word. Ask, Did you see the "s" each time it appeared?
  • Replay the video and have children call out "s" each time they see the letter.
