Encourage children to select a book that interests them and to look at the words and pictures on their own or with other children. Ask children to talk to you about the things in the book that make sound. Ask children to qualify the sounds the things make as either soft or loud. When finished, ask them to identify which thing makes the softest sound and which makes the loudest sound.
