Skill Focus: Fine Motor Skills

Educator Prep: Fill the sand table with beans, rice, or other small objects that children can use to explore sounds.

Have children use the materials in the Sand Table to create various sound-makers. After children have finished creating their sound-maker, encourage children to work in pairs and try to guess what materials are in their partner’s sound-maker. Have the clipboard or chart paper near the table so children can dictate, draw, or write about sounds or new observations about sound.
