English Language Arts/Composition 16: Use their own words or illustrations to describe their experiences, tell imaginative stories, or communicate information about a topic of interest.
English Language Arts/Reading and Literature 7: Develop familiarity with the forms of alphabet letters, awareness of print, and letter forms.
English Language Arts/Composition 18: Use emergent writing skills to make letters in many settings and for many purposes.

Skill Focus: Active Viewing, Phonological Awareness (Beginning Sounds), Creative Expression, Fine Motor Skills

Have children make word morphs with the letters “n” and “q” to hang around the learning space. Have children dictate or write on an index card the name of something that begins with “Nn.” Then have them illustrate the card.

Have two or three other children to do the same. Hang the words side by side so they morph from one to the next. Repeat with the letter “Qq.” Title the area “Our Word Morphs.
