Tell children you will hold up a name card and you want that child to choose a high or low pitch or a loud or soft volume to use to say his or her name. Say, Then we will all sing in that voice.
Have a volunteer demonstrate each sound before beginning.
Assure children you will look directly in their eyes when you hold up their card so they will know whose name is on the card.
Welcome, Welcome
(sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star)
Welcome, welcome <name of a child>
Now you’re here,
We’ll have some fun.
First we’ll clap our hands just so,
Then we’ll bend and touch our toes.
Welcome, welcome <name of a child>
Now you’re here,
We’ll have some fun.
