Review the Week Together: Unit 3, Week 3
Display the read-aloud book Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson and Oscar and the Bat: A Book About Sound by Geoff Waring. Acknowledge children's artwork, writing, and charts displayed around the room. Talk about the things children did and learned this week, including their work in the Learning Centers.
For example, say, This week we continued learning about the volume and pitch of differnt sounds and explored making sound of different volume, pitch, and timbre with our own voices. We also learned about the letter "Oo."
- Who can tell me how high- and low-pitched sounds different from loud- and soft-volume sounds?
- Who can make a high-pitched sound with their voice? A low-pitched sound?
- Who can describe an animal sound you heard on our listening walk? Encourage the use of sound vocabulary.
- We also learned about the letter "Oo" and talked about the word on.
- Can you tell me another word that begins with the letter "Oo." Does anyone's name have the letter "Oo" in it?
Review the charts made throughout the week. Point out how many new things children learned about sounds this week.
Congratulate children on being observant scientists as they explored sounds. Invite them to take turns naming their favorite sound activity this week and sharing why it was a favorite activity.
Let children choose a favorite song or poem from the week to sing or recite together.
