Skill Focus: Math (Patterns)

Display an arrangement of various toy musical instruments. You may want to include the rubber band guitars and tube instruments from earlier weeks. Choose two or three instruments and play a musical pattern: drum, drum, maraca, drum, drum . . . Ask, What’s next? Have children play or say the pattern aloud with you and on their own. Encourage them to create their own patterns with a partner.
