ELA Focus Skills: Phonological Awareness (Rhythm and Repetition), Name Recognition

Have children sit together in a circle. Distribute name cards to three children at a time. Tell children you are going to sing a song to those three children.

If the final group includes only one child, sing the verse using that child’s name three times. If the final group includes two children, join the group and have the class sing hello to you as well.

We’re Happy You Are Here
(sung to the tune of “Goodnight, Ladies”)
Hello, <child’s name>.

Hello, <second child’s name>.

Hello, <third child’s name>.

We’re happy you are here.

Final verse
Hello, everyone.

Hello, everyone.

Hello, everyone.

We’re happy you are here.
