Display the rubber band instruments and tubes and have children demonstrate sounds they have learned. Encourage them to change the volume, pitch, and timbre of their voices. Have children take turns creating a sound. If it is a high sound, children stand; if it is a low sound they sit down. You may want to play a piece of music and, when the volume is up, children stand; when it is low, children sit.

Hold up the letter “Jj” card. Ask children to name the letter. Then hold up the jazz word card. Ask, What sound do you hear at the beginning of the word jazz? Then say, I’m going to say a word. Jump up if it begins with the /j/ sound like the word jazz. (try saying the words yellow, juice, jacket, music)  Repeat with the letter “Ll” and the /l/ sound.
