Skill Focus: Creative Expression, Fine Motor Skills, Vocabulary

Invite children to paint to some music using their fingers. Play a music recording for children. Direct their attention to the materials and ask, What colors do you think you should use to paint to this (loud, exciting) music? Provide paper for children to paint. Encourage children to use their color vocabulary and their sound and music vocabulary to describe their paintings. Repeat with a different style of music.

Social Emotional Tip: Finger painting provides children with a safe, fun way to relieve stress and express their feelings.
