Gather a small group of children in the Writing Center. Say, Everyone in the room can play music! If we were to make a music band, what would it be? Let’s think of a name for our music band. Invite children to offer suggestions for a band name. Have each child dictate his or her suggestion and then write it on a construction paper T-shirt. Then say, Now you can decorate your band T-shirt. At the end of the week we will decide which band name and T-shirt we like best! Gather the children in a circle. Display the T-shirts and read the band names for children. Hang all the T-shirts in the Art Center.
