ELA Focus Skills: Making Connections, Story Comprehension
Reread one of the books of the week, watch the video Between the Lions “What Instrument Does Alvin Play?” or select a book from the recommended book list in the Unit Overview. Focus on the sources of the sounds in the book. Ask questions about sound, such as
- What is the source of the sound? What or who is making the sound? How do you know?
- Have children then describe the sound and how it was made. Ask, Is it a high or low pitch sound? A loud or quiet sound? A tinny or growly sound?
