Tell children they are going to read a chant with you that has the word zoom in it.

  • Ask, What letter sound do you hear at the beginning of the word zoom? (/z/)
  • Then ask, Can you show me how to zoom around?

Recite “Zoom, Zoom, Zoom” with the movements once before having children join in. Then have children chant and act out the movements along with you the second time.

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
Zoom, zoom, zoom, (rub hands upward)
I’m going to the moon. (zoom hands up)

If you want to take a trip,
Climb aboard my rocket ship. (climb imaginary ladder)

Zoom, zoom, zoom, (rub hands upward)
I’m going to the moon. (zoom hands up)

Adaptation: Simplify for younger children by saying a line and showing the movement to one child at a time.
