Hold up the letter “Cc” card. Have children identify the uppercase and the lowercase letter.
Trace over the uppercase “C” and lowercase “c” to show how to form the letters.
Then have children trace the letters along with you. Point out that the lowercase “c” is shaped just like the uppercase “C,” only it is smaller.
Educator Tip: Guided and independent letter, sound, and word practice continues to take place in center activities. It is helpful to set up the literacy center immediately after the direct instruction and repeat instruction before children work in the literacy center identifying letters.
