Tell children that they are going to watch the video Between the Lions “Get Your Mouth Moving (u),” about the letter “Uu.”
Show the video clip and ask children to look for the letter “Uu” in the words that appear on the screen.
Replay the video a second time. Pause after the words bump, pump, and jump and ask volunteers to point to the letter “Uu” in each. Ask,
- Can you hear the /u/ sound?
- Can you name other words that have the same /u/ sound?
- Can you name another word that rhymes with bump, pump, and jump? Does your rhyme word have the letter sound /u/?
