Sing “Climb On!” with children. This is a song about a sled. Ask children about their experiences on sleds before you sing. Ask, Have you ever ridden down a snowy hill on a sled? Were you afraid at the top of the hill? Why?

Sing “Climb On!” once for children. Then invite them to sing along with you and clap to the rhythm if they wish. After singing, review key vocabulary with children. Ask, Why is whizzing a good word to use to describe what it’s like to go down a snowy slope?

Climb On!
(sung to the tune of “Itsy Bitsy Spider”)

Climb aboard my sled now,
We’re going down the hill.
Hurry and get ready,
It won’t be long until,
We’re whizzing down a snowy slope
And laughing all the way!
Let’s get the countdown started,
As off we go today!
