Read Ten on the Sled by Kim Norman aloud to individuals or small groups.
- Talk about the illustration on the cover and ask children what they think the book is about.
- Read the book together. Allow children to turn pages.
- Pause on a page when you notice something sparks a child's attention. Talk about it.
- Invite children to read along with you.
You may want to reread the book and invite children to count the animals on the sled as animals fall out of the sled.
- Then count down from ten as with children.
English Language Learners: Name some of the actions in the story and pantomime the action. Have children repeat the action words and pantomime after you.
