Your baby needs exercise. Being physically active sets the stage for later fitness. Music is a great way to get your baby moving.

  • You can gently move your baby’s arms and hands together to help him clap along to a song as you wait for the bus or in the grocery line.
  • You can lay your baby on his back and bicycle his legs to the music beat as you wait for dinner to cook or sit on the grass outside.
  • Use rhymes, songs, and chants like “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” to help your baby move as he practices new skills, such as pulling up to a sitting or standing position.

You can get moving too! Hold your baby in your arms and dance to music around the kitchen or the living room--or even outdoors!
