Your toddler has rhythm. So find a nonslippery dance floor (inside or outside) and put on some danceable music. Let your child move however she wants as you dance together!

  • Have a variety of music ready and change musical styles throughout your dancing session. Watch and comment on how your toddler changes her movements for different tunes.
  • You can also encourage certain dance moves. As you listen to a ballad or a waltz, dance slowly with your toddler. Change to faster music and dance faster. Or listen to soft music and toe-tap or clap along softly, then switch to louder music and stomp or clap loudly.
  • Talk about what fast, slow, soft, and loud mean.
